The Bloomington High School South Band program has been offering music education and performance opportunities to students since 1965.

The Bloomington High School South Bands Program provides students with many opportunities needed to grow as musicians, which include a full and enriching academic year with marching band in the fall, pep band in the winter, and concert and jazz bands performing throughout the academic year. Our students develop musical technique and skill through individual and group creativity, musical expression, concerts, and ISSMA performances and competitions. They learn the importance of practice and preparation, how to take risks, and how to push beyond their limits as musicians to improve.

Our students also learn the value of working hard, doing your best, and collaborating with others. Through this collaboration and teamwork they learn how to handle interpersonal relationships and develop emotional intelligence. Our students are given opportunities to gain important leadership skills and take ownership of the program. These opportunities include Drum Major, Section Leader, Captain, and more. We deeply value our students' perspectives, ideas, and leadership!
